The Council of Banking Employers in Romania (CPBR) is the only representative employers' organization according to the social dialogue legislation at the level of the Collective Bargaining Sector - Banking Activities, representing approximately 50% of the entire banking sector in terms of number of employees.
Ever since its establishment in 2014, CPBR, through its members and partners, has managed to become a relevant actor at the level of social dialogue. Through consultations with the authorities both at the national level and at the level of the established European structures, CPBR managed to provide an objective picture of the challenges faced by the Romanian banking system and to support the employees of the sector through constant dialogue with the unions. CPBR supports ethical governance by being actively involved in the legislative process of relevant normative acts for the banking sector, including those related to consumer protection.
Member of the Confederation of Concordia Employers (CP Concordia), representative confederation at national level, CPBR supports the development of social dialogue at national level, the digitalization of Romania, financial development, consumer protection, with the aim of ensuring a clear, stable and predictable legislative framework. Through its affiliation with CP Concordia, CPBR is present both in the Economic and Social Council of Romania (CES), in the European Economic Committee (CESE), as well as in the social dialogue commissions at the level of the ministries and in the advisory councils established within the public authorities.
CPBR is the only employers' organization in the private sector that in recent years has signed Contracts and Collective Labor Agreements, through negotiations with the relevant union federations in the bargaining sector. The existence of a Collective Labor Agreement at the level of a group of companies or a negotiation sector is important because it allows, beyond the national legal provisions, the establishment of a structured framework, specific to the area of activity, for the dialogue between employees and employers, establishing the rights of employees, laying the foundations of a fair treatment of employees and thus contributing to the stability and predictability of labor relations.
